Our Company History
Handmade By Artisans, One at a Time
Our pieces are made entirely by hand, one at a time, using the ancient art of sand casting: pouring a premium quality alloy of molten aluminum into sand molds, and then going through four levels of polishing. More than twelve different sets of hands are involved in the creation of each piece, and the result of this intensely handmade process is a piece with a depth of character, warmth and personality that communicates in a way that only a handmade piece can.
Beatriz Ball was born in Havana, Cuba, and grew up in Mexico where she began collaborating with local metal artisans as they transitioned from working with high-priced silver to a new and durable, Space Age alloy. Now based in New Orleans, Beatriz built her own foundry in Mexico fifteen years ago, and after it was up and running, started selling to specialty stores all over the country. Today she sells to over 2,000 independently owned shops, as well as to Neiman Marcus, and through her company web site, www.beatrizball.com.
